Ed Schiavone PT, COMT, OCS, FAAOMPT Physical Therapist and Director of Education: Agile Physical Therapy Faculty: Agile Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship, Palo Alto, CA Faculty: Kaiser Permanente Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship, Union City, CA. PhysioTree, Redwood City, CA. Ed Schiavone earned a BS in Physical Therapy from Youngstown State University, Ohio. He received his Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification in 2005. Ed completed the Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Northern California in 2006 and has been a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist since 2009. Ed is Director of Education at Agile Physical Therapy, located in Palo Alto, CA. Ed previously served as Clinic Director and Director of the Agile Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency from 2010 through 2016. As residency director and clinical faculty, Ed has taught and mentored residents, and led faculty and education curriculum development. Ed has been on faculty of the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship since 2011. As Education Director and faculty member, Ed teaches and mentors orthopedic residents, Fellows-in-training, and seasoned clinicians on various topics including: clinical reasoning, test clusters, principles of classification and differentiation, thrust and non-thrust techniques, and exercise progression. He also teaches continuing education classes on the topic of thrust techniques for the spine and extremities to physical therapists of all skill levels. In 2016, Ed co-founded PhysioTree LLC, a healthcare information technology start-up specializing in clinical applications.

In 2012 he completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Southern California’s Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. Noom was then accepted into an Orthopedic Residency with Physical Therapyworks, Santa Monica. Following completion of his residency in 2013, he was then accepted as a Fellow-In-Training for Kaiser Permanente’s Orthopedic and Sports Fellowship. Noom joined Agile Physical Therapy in 2015 and holds the role of Clinical Manager for Sutter Health in Sunnyvale. He continues to be part of the faculty for both the Orthopedic Residency and Orthopedic and Manual Fellowship where he is a mentor and course instructor. Noom feels that learning is lifelong and his training has really helped him to build a strong foundation to continue his journey to be more thoughtful about his practice. He believes that the process of teaching and mentoring not only gives back to the profession but also helps to keep moving it forward.
